SERVING 500 HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS

USU serves approximately 500 higher education students from Daggett, Duchesne, and Uintah counties with a variety of educational offerings. Our Vernal and Roosevelt campuses provides high school students the option to start their degree locally while also providing a supportive environment for adult learners looking to change their career or advance their professional skills.

Uintah Basin graduates earning their college degree jumped 20% in 2020, marking its largest class in campus history with 153 graduates. This trend stretches back to 2016, lending to a 45% increase overall. The success of our students stems from the hands-on learning approach and local support services. As innovators in the statewide system, the campus has piloted programs designed to help connect students to their learning community, including the Faculty Mentor Program and First Year Success Program.

REDUCED TIME TO COMPLETION BY NEARLY 1 YEAR

Students are matched with a local success coordinator who acts as a central point of contact for any questions or assistance at USU. With guidance from academic advising and success coordination, students can graduate faster with less debt by staying current on graduation plans.

27 FULL-TIME FACULTY

The Vernal and Roosevelt campuses are home to 27 faculty in more than 14 academic departments, plus many adjunct instructors who help deliver face-to-face, broadcast, and online classes.

125 PROGRAM OPTIONS

USU Uintah Basin currently offers five associate degrees, 31 bachelor’s degrees, 26 master’s degrees, and two doctoral degrees. The most important programs for our region include nursing, education, business, and natural science degrees that support Uintah Basin workforce needs.

$13.7 MILLION IN RESEARCH FUNDING

USU’s undergraduate research program is the second oldest in the nation, behind only MIT. The Bingham Research Center is located on the Vernal campus. The center includes a team of scientists and experts exploring air quality, energy, and the environmental sciences. Hands-on research opportunities are available for students, including the Uintah Basin’s Student Research Internship Program and the Anadarko Air Quality Student Research Fellowship.
