USU TOOELE SUMMER PROGRAM

If you’re worried that you aren’t quite ready for college, or you don’t know what degree to pick, Utah State University Tooele has a program ready for you this summer. Skip summer camp and join USU Tooele for our Summer Program. This exciting opportunity features two 7-week programs designed to help you prepare for college and explore exciting career opportunities.

Session One

June 24 - August 9, 2025

  • MATH 0995 - Pre-Algebra
  • ENGL 1010 - Writing for Inquiry
  • USU 1730 - Habits for Academic Success

This Habit of Mind course introduces students to the skills, techniques, and learning science related to college-level academic success. Self-regulated learning, critical thinking, and a growth mindset are emphasized and can be applied to current and future courses and post-college activities.

Criminal Justice Session

June 24 - August 9, 2025

Criminal Justice Courtroom Reporting

  • CJ 1340: Criminal Investigations
  • CJ 4350: Courtroom Communications
  • ENGL 2020: Professional Communications

This session will feature a one-week, hands-on learning experience. With the participation of local criminal justice professionals, the experiential learning session features a simulated criminal investigation where students will have the opportunity to apply the concepts learned in the course. This work will include:

  • Investigating a simulated crime scene and processing evidence from that crime scene (Introduction to Forensic Science)
  • Writing a police report detailing findings from that investigation (Professional Communication)
  • Testifying as a witness in a simulated court hearing regarding the investigation (Courtroom Communications)
Students may be eligible to attend at little to no cost with a tuition waiver.

Our team offers our thanks to the local generous donors and partners that have contributed funds for scholarships to those local students interested in attending USU Tooele.

To qualify for a tuition waiver, students must meet all the program requirements, including the following:
  • Be fully admitted to USU by April 1, 2025
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Plan to be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) at USU Tooele in the fall and spring semesters, following attendance at the USU Tooele Summer Program
  • Be an undergraduate student
  • Submit a current FAFSA application and have it on file with USU Student Financial Support
  • Be a resident of Tooele County
