Weaving Our Stories

Theme: Building Community in Turbulent Times

The Weaving Our Stories Conference is returning to USU Blanding this September 24-25, 2025. The conference brings together students, faculty, staff and community members to support, celebrate, and productively engage with Native American students and communities throughout the USU system.

Proposals

Proposals from faculty, staff, students, community organizations - groups or individual - will be considered.

Presenters will have 50 minutes to present, while all formats of presentation are welcome, sessions that promote interaction and engagement of the audience are encouraged.

For full consideration, please submit your proposal by Tuesday, July 15th, 2025. Applicants will be notified by mid-June 2025 whether their proposal has been accepted.

Thematic Areas

Proposals should address "how to build community" in the following areas:

  • Research and innovation
  • Pedagogy (culturally responsive and inclusive)
  • Art, history, cultural education and celebration
  • Mentorship
  • Student engagement and retention
  • Experiential learning
  • Community engagement
  • Conflict transformation and reconciliation
  • Wellness and mental health

The following information must be included in your submission:

  • Title of the proposal - proposal must be tied to this year's theme
  • Abstract (not to exceed 750 word)
  • Target audience
  • Primary presenter's details, other presenter details if applicable
  • Presentation mode (lecture, workshop, discussion, poster, group activity, etc.)
  • Any specific tools or provisions needed for your presentation
  • Supplemental materials (optional)
  • Complete the Expense Authorization Form as soon as possible and email it to wosproposals@aggies.usu.edu.

Presenter Conference Registration and Cost

Registration is free and required for all attendees. Some meals will be provided during the conference for all registered attendees.

Travel and Accommodations

Travel accommodation, expenses, and some meals will be provided for the presenters upon acceptance of their proposal. Rooms are reserved at special rates in local hotels. Please check conference lodging for the hotel options. Make your booking as soon as possible, space is limited.
