Lecture Series

Utah State University is your hometown university, offering a variety of educational opportunities to residents of the Uintah Basin. We are excited to bring the 2021 Uintah Basin Speaker Series, providing insightful, relevant community topics to spark conversations. Each speaker's presentation will be broadcast live on Channel v6's Facebook feed and available through their digital streaming services. Videos from the series will be published on this page a few days after the event.

Native Worldview and Its Impact on Today

Forrest Cuch shares today’s worldviews within a historical lens in USU’s first speaker series. He touches on the differences in mindsets, perceived truths, power of nature, intergenerational trauma the clash between Europeans and Native Americans throughout history, and more. Cuch highlights what we can all learn from native views and perspectives ranging from matriarchal vs patriarchal societies, generosity, kindness, capitalism, racism, colonialism, and connections with earth and nature. He finishes with a call to embrace culture diversity, acceptance, empathy and kindness to improve our world.

Shannon Dulaney speaks to the keys of leadership in the second lecture of USU’s 2021 spring speaker series. As an educator, Dulaney shares how reflection and openness are crucial components for purposeful leadership even beyond the classroom. Though leadership and education are challenging, she highlights the role of inspiration and the need to be kind to allow for personal and professional growth. Dulaney ends her presentation with a message of hope and resiliency.
