Biography
I am a lecturer in the Kinesiology and Health Science Department. In this role I teach, mentor students, and strive to create a collaborative, interactive learning environment. I received a Bachelor’s of Community Health and Master’s of Health Promotion from Utah State University. As a Masters student, I worked for the KHS department teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Since graduation, I have worked for a local health department working to address social determinants of health in our community, engaging with community members and coalitions to increase access to health resources for underserved populations. My professional interests include addressing local public health prevention efforts through a risk and protective factor-based approach to more effectively impact the health, well-being, and quality of life for the community. I am especially passionate about working with youth increasing their social-emotional learning skills to promote mental health and prevent early initiation of substance use and risky sexual behavior.
